Wannette is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in watercolor, graphic design, illustration and motion & still photography. Bouncing between photorealism and abstract, experimental and traditional techniques, themes emerge that center wildlife, mother nature and social commentary. “I enjoy exploring how social constructs color the imaginations of who we are. As a black woman painting animals, butterflies, florals and landscapes, I enjoy disrupting and reclaiming that space. I also believe in the power of divine feminine energy to bring back balance to an increasingly fragmented society.” While traditional watercolor is a favorite, Wannette is exploring the use of digital (audio/visual) and nature (elements and pigments) to create experiential mixed medium works. Verve Brand apparel was inspired by her background as a brand identity specialist, graphic designer, former model and college athlete.
